Three Indian players have been included in the 2020 ICC U19 World Cup team of the tournament, announced a day after the Boys in Blue finished runners-up on Sunday (February 09).
After three weeks of competition involving 16 teams, Bangladesh clinched their first ICC U19 World Cup title with a victory over reigning champions India in a thrilling final at Potchefstroom.
The Tigers won the rain-affected contest, chasing down the 177-run target by three wickets (DLS method), suitably capping off a thrilling tournament in South Africa.
The official team of the tournament features players from six teams and is led by Bangladesh captain Akbar Ali, with the likes of Ibrahim Zadran, Nyeem Young and ‘Player of the Tournament’ Yashasvi Jaiswal all included.
Canada pacer Akhil Kumar also features in the team as 12th man.
This team has been selected by an adjudication panel of five, which included commentators Ian Bishop, Rohan Gavaskar, and Natalie Germanos joined by ESPN Cricinfo correspondent Sreshth Shah and ICC representative Mary Godbeer.
