In recent developments, former Indian cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi, heavily criticized the demeanor of the Indian colts, during the finals of the ICC U19 World Cup held in Potchefstroom on Sunday.
After the winning runs were scored by the Bangladeshis, their entire squad raced onto the middle of the pitch to celebrate the historic victory. Subsequently, it led to altercations between the players of both sides.
Post-investigation, three Bangladeshis, and two Indian players were reprimanded for their actions. The whole scene left a sour taste for the fans of the game who criticized the behavior from both teams.
“Look, what Bangladesh do is their problem. What our boys do is our problem. You could see that there was abusive language used,” Bedi told Mid-Day.
Further, the world cup-winning off-spinner asked for stringent action by the ICC and called for team management, the coach being accountable for their actions.
Bedi did not even spare India’s former U19 coach, Rahul Dravid, and asked for answers for such a ‘disrespectful and disgraceful’ demeanor.

“You bat, bowl and field bad, happens, but there’s no excuse for behaving badly. The behavior was disgusting and most disgraceful. The innocence of that age was not visible at all. Who can control this? If the top is behaving like that, what do you expect? The coach, the team manager should be hauled up. Dravid must answer to this development,” added Bedi.
During recent times, the South Asian teams were accused of manipulation of age in the Under 19 tournament. Bedi, later, talks about the pertinent issue which has plagued the tournament even in the recent edition.
“India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. All Asian teams which made the semi-finals…you could tell from a country mile that the players were not under-19. A few years ago, Rahul Dravid spoke about the overage issue. What has happened to us? I am very disappointed,” concluded the 73-year-old.
