In 2010, after a two-year engagement, Michael Clarke’s relationship with model Lara Worthington (now Bingle) came to an end. And now, ten years later, so too has his marriage of seven years.
Clarke and his wife Kyly Boldy recently issued a joint statement to The Australian that announced they had been living apart for some time – reportedly five months – and they had come to the “mutual conclusion” to split.
The pair reportedly reached a settlement worth $40 million. And so it’s once again back to the drawing board for the former Australian captain who has proven to be unlucky in love.
Ghosts of Clarke’s past relationship with Lara took a toll
Kyly has been living in the family home in Vaucluse with their 4-year-old daughter Kelsey Lee, while Clarke is in his Bondi beach apartment, which he previously shared with ex-girlfriend Lara Bingle Worthington. An anonymous source commented on the issue that may have led to the duo separating – Clarke’s fondness for Lara.
“Lara is about to have her third child. She is living the life he always wanted to. Lots of their old mates think he still has a place in his heart for Lara. You never forget your first love, and it’s even harder when they are in the public eye showing off their kids and happy life. He is jealous of Sam and what they have,” an unnamed source was quoted as saying by Yahoo Sport.
The source also mentioned that Clarke always wanted to have a larger family, while Kyly was looking to make headways into her career. The cricketer-turned-commentator had even commented that he wished to have at least ten kids way back in 2018, but he admitted Kyly didn’t want the same.
“Michael has always said he wanted a big family. He wants three kids, at least. He is super close to his own sister, but Kyly was not as keen. He adores his daughter and would love nothing more than some more,” the source added.
