Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma registered her support for the Indian women’s team which is currently in Australia to compete for the all-important ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
The better half of India men’s team skipper, Virat Kohli, will play former Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami in her biopic, extended her best wishes to the Indian team via Twitter.
“A big cheer for the Women in Blue for their first game in the #T20WorldCup and for the entire tournament… We’re watching you ladies smash it on the field and we’ll be rooting for you all through. #TeamIndia #AusvInd,” posted the popular figure in Indian cinema, prior to India’s match against Australia in the T20 World Cup.

Her wishes must have worked like a charm, as the Indian women’s team defeated the hosts, defending champions and the favourites to clinch the trophy, Australia, quite comprehensively.
India huffed and puffed towards a total of 132 by the end of their 20 overs. But the match belonged to India’s leading wicket-taker in T20I cricket, Poonam Yadav, coming back from an injury and clinching 4 key Australian wickets.
By the end, the Aussies were well short of their required target as India won the match by 17 runs.
