After six years, three months and 20 days, batting icon Sachin Tendulkar returned to his home ground – the Wankhede Stadium – and he didn’t disappoint his fans who had filled the iconic venue on Saturday.
Chasing the West Indies Legends’ total of 150-8, Tendulkar (36 off 29, 7×4) and his partner Virender Sehwag (74 not out, 11×4) added an excellent 83-run partnership for the first wicket to eventually help them beat the visitors by seven wickets in the opening game of the Road Safety World Series 2020.
Meanwhile, it took no time for the Mumbai crowd to start with familiar chants of ‘Sachin.. Sachin’ as the Little Master blasted seven boundaries in his innings of 36.
Though Suleiman Benn ultimately did claim Tendulkar’s wicket, Sehwag continued the charge and remained unbeaten on 74 to take India over the finish line.
