MS Dhoni’s love for soccer is an established phenomenon. In fact, it is known that his wicket-keeping skills is directly correlated with his stint as a goalkeeper at the school level.
There have been numerous instances during pre-match training drills, where the greatest ever wicket-keeper batsman produced from the turfs of India, can be seen flaunting his footballing skills.
Also, he has been part of various charity exhibition matches to show the world that he is no mug with the ball at his feet.
With the Indian Premier League (IPL) proceedings in a standstill, the long wait to see MSD on the field has only been elongated.
It was only a few weeks back that CSK personnel resumed their training at Chepauk, seeing the start of the tournament on March 29. However, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the entire sporting world has been put to a halt.
The IPL Governing Council decided to postpone the start of the thirteenth season to April 15. Questions still loom whether IPL 2020 will take place, and Dhoni will retake guard. The last time Dhoni was part of cricketing action was back in 2019 during the ODI World Cup in England.
MS, known to be the master of finishing, fell heartbreakingly close to taking India to the finals of the multilateral tournament. Since then, the talismanic cricketer has not stepped onto the field.
However, CSK managed to engage their fan-base by releasing a video of Dhoni showboating his football skills, by captioning, “With every major sporting event getting postponed, here’s a super crossover, #Thala Dhoni footballing with his mates at #AnbuDen. #WhistlePodu,”
