Shreyas Iyer reveals his childhood heroes; names who was his mentor

The Coronavirus pandemic has forced many sporting events to suspend, and due to it, sports personalities are finding different ways to keep themselves busy during the self-isolation period. To spend time, they are heading towards social media to interact with their fans and followers.

In such a process, Indian middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer took to Twitter on Wednesday (Mar 26) to chat with his fans. He ran a Q/A session and tried to answer many questions dropped by his followers.

A fan asked Iyer to speak about Abhishek Nayar’s influence on his career, to which he replied and said Abhishek had played a huge role in his life. Iyer revealed that Abhishek had been his mentor, his brother, his roommate, his physio, basically everything.

“@abhisheknayar1 has been my mentor, my brother, my roommate, my physio aka everything,” tweeted Iyer.

Another fan asked the Mumbai batsman to name those who have inspired him.

“@ShreyasIyer15 Who is your childhood hero? #AskSheryas,” the fan wrote.

The 25-year-old responded to the query and took names of Sachin Tendulkar, Kevin Pieterson, AB de Villiers, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ricky Ponting.

Iyer has so far played 18 ODIs and 22 T20I games, in which the right-handed batsman has accumulated 748 and 417 runs, respectively. He has 10 half-centuries and 1 hundred to his name in international cricket.
