Former and current India cricketers have come out in support of the poor and underprivileged during the 21-day lockdown in the country.

Recently, Richa Ghosh, the young Indian Woman cricketer, joined the bandwagon and contributed a generous amount in the Bengal Chief Minister’s relief fund to fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Richa feels that it is the right time to join hands and fight hard against COVID-19. Also, being a responsible citizen of the country, it was her duty to contribute in the best possible way.

“When everybody is fighting COVID-19, and the chief minister has appealed for a united battle against it, I thought of contributing a bit as a responsible citizen of the country,” Richa said as quoted by India Today.

Also, Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) confirmed the contribution made by Richa through their official Twitter handle.

“#Richa donates 1 Lakh. India and Bengal Women cricketer Richa Ghosh donated Rs 1 Lakh to State Emergency Relief Fund to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic today in Siliguri. The youngster’s father handed over a cheque of Rs. 1 Lakh to Siliguri District Magistrate Sumanta Sahay,” CAB tweeted.

16-year-old Ghosh was part of the national side that went onto play in the recently concluded ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. She also got the opportunity to play a couple of games in the mega-event.
