Ever since Babar Azam came into the Pakistan side and started showcasing his talent, he was straightaway compared with the Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Babar’s style of play, his consistency of scoring runs at a decent average were the prime reasons that he was even subjected to the best modern-day batsman of Pakistan. Some fans opine that what Kohli is to India, Babar is to Pakistan.

Some experts and former cricketers have expressed in public that Babar should replace England’s Joe Root in the fab four – the list currently consists of four best batsmen of modern cricket, i.e., Kohli, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and Joe Root.

However, senior Pakistani batsman Mohammad Hafeez has made it clear that there is no comparison between Kohli and Babar. He reckoned that one should not make any comparison between the two talented cricketers as both the players have two completely different sides.

“I think it’s not right to compare these two [Babar Azam and Virat Kohli]. Kohli is a brilliant cricketer, and he has performed all over the world, but Babar is also playing exceptionally well. Both have two different sides, and there is no comparison between them,” said Hafeez as quoted by Times Now.

The 39-year-old was left out from the One-Day International (ODI) side of Pakistan due to the 2019 World Cup poor show. However, recently Hafeez made his comeback when Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to call him back and veteran Shoaib Malik for the ICC T20 World Cup 2020.

During the interview, Hafeez also cleared the air regarding his retirement. He claimed that after the completion of T20 WC he would retire but continue playing the shortest format in various T20 tournaments.

“I’m planning to retire respectfully after playing the T20 World Cup later this year. I will continue playing T20 leagues around the world as long as I’m fit and performing with the bat”, added Hafeez.

Hafeez has played 55 Tests, 218 ODIs and 91 T20Is in total, in which he has scored 12258 runs and bagged 246 wickets.
