Former India cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir on Saturday thanked Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for acknowledging the contribution he made to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) Fund in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
RCB took to Twitter and shared the article with their followers with a caption that read, “Former India batsman Gambhir donates two years’ salary as an MP to fight coronavirus!”
On spotting it, Gambhir thanked the franchise in his style.
“@RCBTweets I hated losing to you guys, but today you have won me over by this acknowledgement. Thanks a lot,” tweeted Gambhir.

However, things did not end there as RCB once again showed respect by mentioning that Gambhir had always played boldly while representing both the Indian team as well as his former IPL franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
“Be it for Team India or @KKRiders there wasn’t a time you didn’t #PlayBold,” tweeted RCB.

Gambhir led KKR to some memorable wins against RCB in the IPL and a contest between the two sides was always a fascinating one for their fans. Under Gambhir’s leadership, the Knight Riders won two IPL titles, in 2012 and 2014 respectively. Gauti left KKR ahead of the 2018 season to return to Delhi where he managed to play just six games and scored 84 runs.
Meanwhile, most of the sporting events have been cancelled or postponed due to the pandemic. In India, the number of positive coronavirus cases has crossed the 3000-mark, and the number is on the rise.
