In sports, with every generation, there has to be a rivalry between two of the best sports stars in a specific era. Be it Roger Federer vs Raphael Nadal, Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo, or Niki Lauda vs James Hunt.

Taking over from the perennial debate between Sachin Tendulkar vs Brian Lara, it is Smith vs Virat in contemporary cricket.

Former West Indies skipper Darren Sammy, during a recent quick-fire session, was asked to make the call between Australian batting maestro Steve Smith and Indian captain Virat Kohli.

To which, he went ahead with Kohli. Also, he was asked to pick one between the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Sammy, being a prominent ambassador of PSL and international cricket in Pakistan, went ahead and picked PSL as his preferred T20 league.

Also, he went on to choose Rohit Sharma ahead of Shikhar Dhawan, and Kane Williamson ahead of Joe Root.

Brand PSL has attracted several prominent international stars in recent years, to give stiff competition to the high-octane T20 action of IPL.

Sammy was part of the World XI team which toured Pakistan in the country’s bid to resume international cricket. No team had visited Pakistan post the 2009 terror attacks on the Sri Lankan team.

Since then, teams such as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe have toured the country to feature in full-fledged tour. For the first time, PSL was hosted completely in Pakistan this year.

Sammy has been part of the Quetta Gladiators for several seasons now, since its inception.
