The lockdown in India has been extended till May 3 in order to stop the spread of Coronavirus which was earlier declared as a pandemic by WHO. Amid lockdown, many cricketers are heading towards social media platforms to interact with their fans and followers.
In the past days, many cricketers like Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Kevin Pietersen, Yuzvendra Chahal, Dale Steyn have participated in the live sessions on social media. Now, former Indian speedster S Sreesanth has also joined the elite league.
The 37-year-old was seen in a live interactive session with his fans and followers on the Helo App. Sreesanth was asked many questions, and the former paceman responded to a few of them.
During the session, one fan asked Sreesanth to pick his all-time favourite Indian skipper. The Kothamangalam-born had played most of the matches under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Sree was also a part of 2007 and 2011 WC winning team which was led by Dhoni, but instead of MSD, Sreesanth picked former Indian skipper and 1983 world cup-winning captain Kapil Dev.
Sreesanth also shared his experience during the 2011 World Cup. He revealed that he was feeling nervous but Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar and star all-rounder Yuvraj Singh helped him to calm down and bowl well.
“In 2011, I was a bit nervous, but Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh motivated me to bowl. And since it was the World Cup and we were playing at home, everyone in the side wanted to win that final at Wankhede Stadium at any cost for Sachin Paaji! And winning the final in front of an electric crowd was a great experience. It was also my last ODI match in India colours.”
The 2007 and 2011 world cup-winning member is currently serving a ban imposed on him by BCCI for having an involvement in IPL 2014 spot-fixing scandal.
So far Sreesanth has played 53 ODIs, 27 Tests, and ten T20Is, in which he has taken 75, 87, and 7 wickets, respectively.
