Former Indian captain Kapil Dev stirred the social media when he came up with his new look amid lockdown. He shaved his head but reserved beard, thus giving it a salt and pepper look. Now, the 1983 World Cup-Winning skipper has revealed the reason behind his look.
Kapil said that his new bald avatar with a beard is inspired by West Indies’ legend Sir Viv Richards whom he described as his hero and 2011 World Cup-winning Indian captain MS Dhoni.
While responding to sports journalist Vikrant Gupta, Kapil revealed the fascinating story and also termed Dhonis as his hero. A video of the candid conversation was also shared by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) official handle on Twitter.
“I had seen Sir Vivian Richards on your Instagram. He is my hero, so (I thought) why not? I’ll follow my hero. I also saw Dhoni, who is also my hero and he had cut his hair after winning the World Cup. So I thought why not, now I have the chance, so I did it,” Kapil said.

The iconic Caribbean player carried the bald look with a beard after he retired from the game, whereas Dhoni went hairless right after India lifted the WC trophy in 2011.
