Former Pakistan middle-order mainstay, Mohammad Yousuf, has picked the ‘Fab Four’ of the modern generation of batsmen.
Yousuf, who has accumulated 17300 runs in international cricket, added crucial partnerships with Inzamam-ul-Haq for more than a decade.
The 45-year legendary cricketer recently conducted a Q/A session on Twitter. There, he responded to a query from one of his fans.
Electing the Fab Four of the modern generation of batsmen is one of the popular trends of-late, with no cricketing action.
Yousuf, who has notched up 39 tons in all formats, also joined the bandwagon, picking the modern quartet of the best batsman in the world, following the likes of Aakash Chopra, Brad Hogg and many others.
“Your Fab Four in the world right now????.” Asked one of the users on Twitter. Yousuf replied by naming Pakistan ace Babar Azam, Indian captain Virat Kohli, Test maestro Steve Smith and Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson. Interestingly, Yousuf had no place for England number three Joe Root, who plays a similar role in his team.

Every generation of cricketers has a quartet who stand out from the rest. Initially, the pace quartet of West Indies comprised of Joel Garner, Michael Holding, Malcolm Marshall, and Andy Roberts, who terrorized batsmen from all over the world.
Then came the golden quartet of all-rounders, formed by legends namely Imran Khan, Kapil Dev, Richard Hadlee and Ian Botham.
The Indian batting order was one of the most reputed one’s ever, boasting the quartet Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid.
It appears that the likes of Kohli, Smith, and Williamson are constants in each version of Fab four of modern batters.
Often, prominent names in the cricketing fraternity have opted for the likes of David Warner, Rohit Sharma and AB de Villiers. They also belong to the same league of batting extraordinaire.
