Indian captain Virat Kohli, along with Cheteshwar Pujara, is one of the most reliable catchers at the slip cordon.
The two, with Ajinkya Rahane, apart from being the mainstays of the Indian middle order, add another dimension to their game with their safe pair of hands.
During the 2018 Indian tour of Australia, Kohli grabbed a screamer while fielding at slips. The Indian captain recently posted a picture of him taking the catch while intending to troll Pujara with “First Session After Lockdown” caption.
“First session after lockdown be like @cheteshwar1 I hope you will go for the ball pujji,” captioned the picture. Soon after, Mohammed Shami joined the conversation with his comment, ‘No chance’.

There was a time when India struggled to hold on to their catches in slips. Subsequently, they struggled to win matches abroad due to the expensive catch drops.
India’s slip fielding was secure with the likes of Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman who were regulars for almost two decades at the crucial position.
However, India struggled during its transition period post the retirement of the stalwarts. But the trio of Pujara, Kohli and Rahane, used the opportunity to prove their worth in the slips in recent times.
With the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, which affected millions of lives worldwide, cricketing action has now been put on hold.
Cricketers have resorted to social media with the lockdown imposed in various countries. These cricketers, who play the sport throughout the calendar, must be itching to go out and resume their jobs.
It remains unknown when the normalcy will be restored. Till then, sportspersons are forced to relive the past and bask their glories.
