One of the most iconic Indian wins under the captaincy of MS Dhoni is the 2008 Commonwealth Bank Tri-series victory over hosts Australia and Sri Lanka.
The trio of Suresh Raina, Praveen Kumar and Rohit Sharma was part of the triumphant squad which brought laurels back home.
The reason why the win remains notable is that it came under the new regime of Indian cricket, where Dhoni infused young blood and fresh legs into the side and translated his T20I success in ODI cricket.
This win came soon after India’s success in the T20 World Cup in South Africa which involved the young brigade.
Rohit’s knock with Sachin Tendulkar at SCG, while Kumar’s spell throughout the tournament was instrumental in the tournament win.
Praveen recently took to Twitter to share a picture with his UP teammate Raina and Mumbai stalwart Rohit, who was still finding his feet in international cricket.
“Those days What about this bro’s @ImRaina @ImRo45,” Praveen captioned his post.
Soon after, close friend Raina and Rohit too reacted to the picture, while retweeting it. ‘Hysterical, those were the days man what fun,’ said Rohit.

After the Australia tour, Raina and Rohit went on to become regulars in the Indian side. However, Praveen’s career spiralled down with a dip in performances.
Praveen and Raina were part of the now-disbanded Gujarat Lions franchise for a couple of seasons while Rohit is now one of the modern greats in world cricket.
The UP seamer announced his retirement from the game in October 2018, after playing his last international match in March 2012.
Raina remains out-of-favour in the national side due to his domestic form. He was looking forward to yet another impressive stint in the IPL for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), to make his contention for the 2020 T20 World Cup.
But the IPL 2020 has been suspended for an indefinite period due to coronavirus pandemic.
