Former Australian wrist-spinner Brad Hogg has kept cricket fans engaged during the ongoing coronavirus outbreak by regularly interacting with them on social media. Hogg recently picked Virat Kohli as the captain of his all-time Indian Premier League (IPL) XI. The Australian veteran’s IPL team also included two of the most successful IPL captains in Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni.
Hogg, who played two seasons for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and then a couple of editions for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) picked David Warner, AB de Villiers, Sunil Narine and Rashid Khan as the four foreign players in his team.
The 49-year-old picked Rohit and David Warner as openers in his all-time IPL XI. Warner (4706 runs) is one of the most consistent openers in IPL while Rohit has an impressive record (4898 runs) in the T20 tournament. Following them on the list is captain Kohli, who is also the leading run-scorer (5412 runs) in the IPL history.
Rishabh Pant, who has scored 1736 runs in 54 IPL matches, comes in at number four. He has played four IPL seasons so far.
AB de Villiers, Kohli’s deputy at the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), comes next on the list. The former South Africa international has scored 4395 runs in 154 matches at a strike-rate of 151.23. Dhoni, who will also keep wickets, follows de Villiers.
Among the bowlers, Hogg picked Suni Narine and Rashid Khan as his frontline spinners. Both of them can even make a handy contribution with the bat. The Aussie included former RR teammate Munaf Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah in his pace attack.
However, Munaf’s name on the list is a bit surprising. He did scalp 74 wickets in 63 matches but mostly sat out of playing XI after 2012.
Brad Hogg’s all-time IPL XI:
David Warner, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli (c), Rishabh Pant, AB de Villiers, MS Dhoni (wk), Sunil Narine, Rashid Khan, Munaf Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah.
