There is no doubt that former India cricketer Irfan Pathan was one of the best all-rounders the country has ever produced. Irfan had the quality of a phenomenal swing bowler and a player who was lavish with willow as well.

The Vadodara-born cricketer last donned the Indian jersey in October 2012. He bid adieu to his 16-year international career in January this year. However, lots of fans were of the opinion that Irfan should’ve played more matches. One such fan posted batting stats from Irfan Pathan’s last matches in all three formats of the game on Twitter. He termed Irfan’s departure from the Indian team as ‘unfortunate’.

A few hours later, Irfan too responded to the tweet stating that it was a colossal task to smash an unbeaten 63 runs against the quality South African bowling attack, which consisted of the likes of Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel.

However, in social media platforms, there is always one such response which spoils the mood, and it came in the reply section of Irfan’s tweet – when a fan said that the reason behind the former all-rounder’s exclusion from the Indian team was his poor bowling performance. The fan was referring to the Ahmedabad Test where Irfan went wicketless.

The 35-year-old was quick to retort and shut down the fan with an epic reply. Irfan first said that he wasn’t the only one who went wicketless in that Test. Irfan then reminded the fan of his ‘Player of the Match’ award in the previous Test. Moreover, the left-arm pacer also took a dig at the fan saying that he probably wasn’t born at that time.

Irfan had played 29 Tests, 120 ODIs, and 24 T20I matches, in which he bagged 100, 173 and 28 wickets, respectively. He also scored 1105 runs in red-ball cricket, 1544 in ODIs, and 172 runs in the shortest format.
