In his distinguished career for India, MS Dhoni’s repertoire boasts of numerous instinctive acts as a wicket-keeper and intuitive decisions he had taken as a captain goes directly beyond the realms of conventional wisdom.
Dhoni’s constant guidance and motivation from behind the stumps make things easy, especially for spinners. No wonder, many bowlers miss the absence of the former Indian captain. One such bowler is Kuldeep Yadav.
Indian wrist-spinner has revealed that he misses Dhoni’s absence. Kuldeep further stated he wants CSK captain to make a comeback in the Indian team.
In an interview with The Times of India, the wrist-spinner opined, “We all are missing Mahi bhai. I am a big fan of Mahi bhai. I really want him to come back into the team soon and play. Personally, I really feel he should play for India again.”
The Ranchi-born wicket-keeper hasn’t played an international match since the semi-final defeat against New Zealand in the Cricket World Cup 2019.
“Whenever we stepped onto the field, Mahi Bhai would come up with some instant advice. That advice helped me a lot in my career. He is a great instant advisor,” the spinner remarked.
Meanwhile, he also talked about the benefits of playing under senior members like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
“Mahi bhai is an instant advisor, Virat bhai is a great motivator. Apart from these two, Rohit bhai also guided me a lot on many occasions. I am really grateful that I am playing under seniors like Virat, Dhoni and Rohit.”
The 25-year-old is often accused of being heavily reliant on Dhoni’s advice since the World Cup-winning captain’s absence from the cricketing arena coincided with the recent slump in Kuldeep’s bowling performance.
However, Kuldeep denied such contentions in the past. He had said, “I don’t need to say if I was dependent on him. I can just work towards bettering my craft and as I said, it’s teamwork.”
