It is fair to say that India holds an unbreachable fortress at home in all formats of the game. Very seldom have fans seen Indian being defeated at their home soil, in both white-ball and red-ball cricket.
The last time India lost a Test series was back in 2012 when England shocked the MS Dhoni-led team by a margin of 2-1.
Before that, India lost to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar series of 2004. Also, India remained unbeaten in bilateral ODI series at home since the 2015 South African ODI series loss, until the 2019 Australian ODI series, where the hosts were shocked with a 3-2 margin loss on both occasions.
However, making bold claims, former Australian chinaman bowler, Brad Hogg has named the team which can end India’s unbeaten streak at home in Test cricket.
“Well, I think the best team at the moment would be Pakistan because they have got a very strong pace unit and have got some good spinners. They also got depth in their batting and know the Indian conditions quite well,” Hogg said on his YouTube channel.
The last time Pakistan visited India to participate in a Test series was back in 2007. Since then, they have visited their neighbours and arch-rivals only once in 2012, for a limited-overs series.
India and Pakistan only engage against each other in multilateral events due to diplomatic issues. Hogg, then, backed Australia to break India’s unbeaten streak.
“But they can’t go over there for government reasons, so the next best team is Australia and I am not being biased. We have got the likes of [David] Warner, [Marnus] Labuschagne and Steve Smith. We have got a very potent batting line-up as well as bowling line-up. I think if there is any chance of us beating India on Indian soil right now, it’s going to be over the next couple of years,” Hogg concluded.
