Cricket fans will soon witness some action as England and West Indies are all set to kick-off the first Test series of 2020 ever since Coronavirus pandemic impacted the fascinating game. If all goes as per the plan, then the opening Test of the three-match series will begin from July 8 at Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
Indian cricket fans, on the other hand, might have to wait a little bit longer as no cricketing action will take place in India at present. The current situation of COVID-19 there is getting tensed as everyday cases are rising in large numbers. However, some relieving news is that India will be touring to Australia later this year for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21.
Recently, the fixtures and venues for the four-Test series was finalised. The Aussies will begin their summer with a single Test against Afghanistan in November 2020 at Perth. After that, the Gabba will host the inaugural game of a highly anticipated India-Australia Test series in the first week of December.
Speaking about the same, Australian speedster, Josh Hazlewood talked to ‘Cricket Connected’ show on Star Sports and revealed the plan to pick the prized wicket of Indian captain Virat Kohli. Hazlewood has stated that he and the rest of his teammates would stay away from getting into any kind of banter with Kohli as it encourages the Delhi-born to focus more and produce better results.
“I think we try to probably stay clear of engagement, obviously. I think that was fully evident throughout the series. I think he likes to get in that tussle and it probably brings out the best in him, especially when he’s batting, that was always a no-go-zone for the bowlers,” said the New South Wales cricketer.
“I think it’s a different case if the guys are batting and he’s in the field, you know they can get him engaged there and sort of work him out a little bit if possible, but certainly when he was batting, it was just leaving him to his own devices, and hopefully, we get him in a bit of a switched off mood and take advantage of that,” Hazlewood added.
After the Brisbane Cricket Ground, both sides will lock horns at Adelaide Oval for the Day-Night Test followed by the Boxing-Day game at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Then, in the next year in January 2021, India and Australia will meet at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) for the final Test.
