As MS Dhoni turned a year older on Tuesday, social media is brimming with myriads of birthday wishes from his colleagues, former cricketers and fans from all over the nation. Unlike his peers, Dhoni maintains a low profile on social media platforms. The primary source of his whereabouts and notable life events in the lockdown is wife Sakshi who usually keeps the fans posted about the former skipper.
On Tuesday, Sakshi composed a heartwarming message for her husband on a special day.
“Marking the date you were born, another year older, greyed a bit more, become smarter and sweeter. You are a man who will not be moved by all the sweet wishes and gifts.
“Let’s celebrate another year of your life by cutting a cake and blowing the candles!
“Happy Birthday, Husband!!” Sakshi wrote on Instagram, along with a series of pictures.
The former Indian skipper has been highly inaccessible to the public sphere after playing his last international match in 2019. Dhoni was going through a lean patch, and he was criticised heavily after India’s semi-final defeat against New Zealand in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
The whole matter escalated to a new level after #DhoniRetires started trending on Twitter in May. However, ‘Captain Cool’ remains impervious to such rumours and has not released any official statements related to retirement.
Dhoni attended the CSK camp at Chepauk stadium as a part of the preparation for the IPL 2020 in early March this year.
The cash-rich league, originally scheduled to begin from March 29, has been postponed for an indefinite time due to COVID-19 pandemic.
If the recent statement by BCCI president Sourav Ganguly is anything to go by, the future of the tournament looks bleak, and it might be shifted to some other country.
