On Monday (July 13), the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), announced the results of class 12 students. A total of 88.78% of students passed the examinations successfully. India fielding coach R Sridhar’s daughter, Ananya, was also one of the candidates who had appeared for the exams. He took to Instagram to announce her result and wished his daughter, who passed with flying colours.
“Proud of my daughter who passed 12th today with 93% . I wish you the very best as I do all others who hv passed this milestone. May you lead your life with integrity, happiness, love and peace. Be useful to the world around you. Dream big and follow it with a passion…and know that it is always possible!!!” Sridhar wrote on Instagram.
Because he is mostly away due to international commitments, Sridhar doesn’t get much time to spend with his family. The Mysuru-born had first joined Team India’s coaching set-up in the year 2014. After the Test series defeat against England, the BCCI brought Ravi Shastri as the Director of Indian Cricket team along with Bharat Arun (bowling coach) and Sridhar.
However, Shastri’s and Arun’s contracts weren’t renewed in 2016, Sridhar worked under Anil Kumble. Then, he was replaced by Abhay Sharma but came back at the start of 2016/17 home season.
Sridhar kept his position when Shastri took over as the head coach for the first time. Even in 2019, Sridhar had a strong competitor in the form of former South Africa cricketer Jonty Rhodes, but he was eventually retained.
The former first-class cricketer for Hyderabad had earlier worked with Bharat Arun at the India U-19 team. Sridhar was also associated with Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) – an Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise but had to leave that place due to BCCI’s policies which came into effect in 2017. According to the rules, a coach associated with any of the BCCI’s teams cannot work with an IPL franchise or any other side.
