While many cricketers have been spending a massive chunk of their daily time on social media in the lockdown, MS Dhoni hasn’t updated his Twitter or Instagram account since February 14.
With no cricket due to the coronavirus outbreak, it’s been aeons since the fans got any glimpse of Dhoni. The World Cup-winning captain generally lives away from limelight and publicity.
However, on Friday (July 17), Dhoni made a rare appearance in a short video shared by his IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Dhoni looks younger and fresh in the video with no shades of greyness in both his trimmed hair and beard. He is waving towards someone with a big smile on his face.
“The much needed pawsitivity at 7! #Thala @msdhoni #WhistlePodu,” CSK wrote on their Twitter account.
Here’s the video:

The video started trending on the internet as fans and followers flooded the post with greetings wishes and praising Dhoni’s new look.
The 39-year-old hasn’t played professional cricket since India’s semi-final defeat against New Zealand in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. He was all set to lead CSK in the 13 edition of the IPL scheduled to commence from March 29.
However, the cash-rich league has been suspended indefinitely due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Considering the worsening situation of the coronavirus, the chance of conducting the tournament in home-nation looks bleak. The last resort would be to organise the T20 extravaganza in a foreign country like UAE.
Dhoni turned 39 earlier this month on July 7 and celebrated his birthday at the local farmhouse in Ranchi. There are speculations over his retirement from international cricket, but Dhoni has given no official statement till now.
