After the shocking defeat against West Indies at Southampton, the England cricket team came back brilliantly to clinch the three-match Test series by a 2-1 margin.

During the series, England’s rich reservoir of pace battery was at display, with Stuart Broad sitting out in the first game.

Captain Joe Root had the luxury of picking his eleven out of James Anderson, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Mark Wood and Chris Woakes in the ranks.

Now, Root has reflected on the win and suggested that it was a good headache to have when it comes to selection dilemmas.

“As we’ve seen it’s hard to leave anyone out – just look at the players that haven’t played this game. With the talent that’s waiting in the wings, it’s an exciting place to be and long may those headaches continue,” AFP quoted Root.

Broad, who vented out his anguish after missing out on the Southampton Test, came back to pick 16 wickets in the last two games of the series. Meanwhile, Woakes completed his five-wicket haul on Tuesday.

England’s bowling line-up looks even more formidable ahead of the upcoming Test series against Pakistan.

“I think for now it’s just important that everyone just goes away, has some time away from cricket, away from this bubble and tries not to think about things for a couple of days. Towards the back end of the week we’ll start getting our heads around the challenges that the next three games will pose for us,” the England skipper added.

Visitors Pakistan will face off against England in the first Test scheduled to be hosted at Manchester, from August 5 onwards. The remainder of the games in the three-match Test series will be played at Southampton.

“It’s vitally important that the guys enjoy the next four or five days and really make the most of that time away, time at home with loved ones. We’ve all been very excited about getting home and spending that time refreshing and getting away, so hopefully when we all come back we’ll be ready to crack on with another very exciting series,” Root concluded.
