Yorkshire is on the verge of a comfortable victory after an inspiring spell of bowling from their pace attack has pushed Durham onto the back foot in the opening encounter of Bob Willis Trophy 2020 at Emirates Riverdale.

On Day 4, Yorkshire needed just 68 runs to win the match with David Malan and Harry Brook stitching a solid partnership for the fourth wicket.

A stellar display from Ben Coad and Jordan Thompson disintegrated Durham’s batting line-up as they were bowled out for a meagre score of 103 in the first innings.

However, the home side started their second innings on a high note, courtesy a gutsy century from the opener Alex Lee, who scored a magnificent century. But, the rest of the batsmen failed to build-up as Yorkshire’s Matt Fisher ran through their batting unit with a brilliant spell.

Fisher took four wickets inside 20 deliveries as the host slumped terribly, losing their last seven wickets for 45 runs. One dismissal that easily stands out among the rest is his deadly yorker to uproot Jack Burnham’s stumps. This one grabbed everyone’s attention as Burnham, while trying to defend, lost his ground, collapsed face-first as stumps flew off in the background.

The Yorkshire speedster later revealed that he was actually trying to bowl an in-swinger but the ball came out a bit slower.

“It actually came out wrong. I was more pleased with the Coughlin lbw because I got my wrist perfect for the in-swinger. I could feel it off the finger. I released it off, and the seam was perfect,” the 22-years-old was quoted by Yorkshire’s official website.

“For the Burnham one, it was meant to be an in-swinger, but it came out a bit slower. I think that’s why it did him a bit. When it’s swinging about, I love bowling. I really enjoyed that spell,” Fisher added.
