Before the start of the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), a lot of buzz has already been created with the ongoing pandemic situation and other peripheral issues.

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in India, the tournament was postponed indefinitely back in March this year.

Earlier this month, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to move the tournament outside India, within a biosecure bubble in the UAE.

Moreover, with the strained relations between India and China due to the Galwan Valley, Vivo decided to opt-out from its title sponsorship.

It brought yet another headache for the IPL Governing Council, in the wake of a national boycott of Chinese goods.

Now, the likes of Byju’s, Amazon, Coca- Cola have offered their contention for the bid of IPL title sponsorship.

However, the development of Ayurveda giants Patanjali throwing their hat in the ring for the IPL title sponsorship proved to be a meme-fest on social media. Patanjali’s interest for the sponsorship was recently reported by the Economic Times.

The apex cricketing board in India is also set to give an additional discount 20-30% to the title sponsors keeping in mind the current situation.

Several light-hearted memes were shared on Twitter and other social media platforms, leaving one and all in splits.

Harsh Goenka, the co-owner of former franchise Rising Pune Supergiant, looking at the trend on social media, decided to take a jibe by sharing a hilarious IPL logo.

If Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali manages to secure the bid for the title sponsorship, it would be their first venture into cricket.

Earlier, Patanjali bagged the co-presentation rights for 2016 Kabaddi World Cup. Also, it sponsored the second season of Pro Wrestling League. The BCCI will come up with an affirmative decision on the title sponsorship of the IPL on Tuesday, August 18.
