Sajid Khan‘s sensational spin bowling display made a mockery of Bangladesh batting as Pakistan defeated the hosts by an innings and eight runs on the last day of the rain-marred second Test at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka.

With the victory, Pakistan sealed the two-match series 2-0. With more than two days lost to rain, the Pakistan bowling attack produced phenomenal performance and became the first team in history to take 13 wickets to win on the last scheduled day of a 5-day Test fixture.

After declaring their first innings at 300/4, the visitors exhibited top-class bowling as they bundled out the home team for a mere 87. Sajid picked up a stellar eight-wicket haul in 15 overs. Expectedly Pakistan enforced a follow-on as the Babar Azam-led side were aiming for victory.

In the follow-on, Bangladesh’s top-order failed to impress again as the host were reduced to 25/4 in 8.1 overs. After the early shakeups, Liton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim tried to calm things down and took their team’s total to 72/4 at lunch.

In the second session, Liton and Mushfiqur formed a crucial partnership of 73 runs before Sajid came to the rescue of the tourists, dismissing Liton for 45. Then, Mushfiqur put together another vital stand of 49-run for the sixth wicket with star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and Bangladesh total crossed the triple-figure mark. Rahim and Shakib kept Pakistan bowlers at bay but not for so long as a run-out ended Mushfiqur’s innings to give visitors a crucial opportunity to bounce back.

Shakib’s intentions to save the match looked real after he smashed his 26th half-century in Tests and formed a 50-run partnership with Mehidy Hasan Miraz. However, Pakistan again came back in the match after Babar introduced himself into the attack and got rid of Mehidy for 14.

After Mehidy’s dismissal, Bangladesh lost three more wickets, including Shakib, who scored a fighting 63, as Pakistan won the match by an innings and 8 runs to sweep the series 2-0.
