In the latest development, the New Zealand team will visit Pakistan twice in their 2022-23 season, confirmed New Zealand Cricket (NZC) on Monday. The first visit will be a part of the Future Tours Programme, while the second was decided to make up for the abandoned tour.

Notably, New Zealand had called off their white-ball tour of Pakistan in September this year, minutes before the start of the ODI series opener, citing security concerns.

The Black Caps will first tour in December 2022-January 2023 to play two Test matches and three One-Day International games. The two Tests will be part of the World Test Championship (WTC), and the ODIs shall be part of the ICC Super League.

Similarly, the second trip will take place in April 2023 for five ODIs and as many T20Is. This limited-over leg will have two additional ODIs, along with those scheduled in the 2021 series.

NZC chief executive David White said they had a pleasant conversation with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja and they are happy that Black Caps will soon visit Pakistan.

“Our respective chairmen, Ramiz Raja and Martin Snedden had very fruitful and constructive discussions while in Dubai, further strengthening the bond between the two organisations. It’s good to be going back,” said White as quoted by Stuff.

Ramiz also shared his thoughts and said the re-scheduling of the limited-overs tour describes the strong bonding between the two boards.

“I am pleased with the outcomes of our discussions and negotiations and thank Martin Snedden and his board for their understanding and support. This reflects the strong, cordial and historic relations the two boards have and reconfirms Pakistan’s status as an important member of the cricket fraternity,” said Ramiz.
