The ongoing three-match Test series between South Africa and India is poised at 1-1, with the final fixture to go in Cape Town, starting Tuesday (January 11). The visitors won the first Test at the Supersport Park in Centurion by 113 runs.
The hosts then made a comeback in the second Test at the Wanderers in Johannesburg by registering a seven-wicket win to keep the series alive and set up a decider at the Newlands.
As the series has reached an exciting stage, former India spinner Harbhajan Singh has shared his prediction for the upcoming battle. Harbhajan reckoned the current Team India has better chances to script the history due to the much improved fast bowling unit. Bhajji observed that if the old Indian sides had a similar bowling attack, the feat must’ve been achieved earlier.
“When we toured, or any other team toured, we never had the luxury of four fast bowlers to bowl at 145 on those pitches, and now Team India is full of fast bowlers. They have quality fast bowlers Shami, Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur. They are top class bowlers. Had India had those sort of bowlers been there earlier, then India would have achieved this feat much earlier than now,” Harbhajan told ANI.
The 41-year-old, who recently bid adieu to all forms of cricket, opined that India would stay on top in the Cape Town Test and hence will win the series.
“So, yes, it is a great opportunity for India to win the series in South Africa, and I hope they do so, and in the last game, South Africa played better. They went on to win the game. I think overall, Team India in Cape Town will be on top of their game, and they will win the series there, and that is what I feel,” added Harbhajan.
