In the high-voltage semi-final clash of the ongoing Under-19 World Cup 2022, India defeated Australia to reach their fourth successive U-19 World Cup final on Wednesday.
Opting to bat first, the ‘Boys in Blue’ had a terrible start after losing both the openers – Angkrish Raghuvanshi (0) and Harnoor Singh (16) – for just 37 in 12.3 overs. Before Australia could capitalise further, the Indian captain and vice-captain duo of Yash Dhull and Shaik Rasheed teamed up to form an inspirational partnership to bring back India into the game.
Dhull smashed a tremendous century while Rasheed fell just six runs short of the triple-figure mark, as India posted 290/5 in their allotted 50 overs. The pair of Dhull and Rashid stitched a game-changing 204 run stand for the third wicket before the Indian skipper got run out for a well-made 110.
In response, the Aussies never looked in any comfort as they eventually got all out for just 194, losing the contest by 96 runs. Middle-order batter Lachlan Shaw was the top-scorer for his team, smashing 51 off 66 before he was cleaned up by Ravi Kumar (2/37), who also drew the first blood by removing opener Teague Wyllie (1) in the second over of Australian innings.
However, the pick of the bowler for India was Vicky Ostwal, who bagged a three-wicket haul while conceding 42 runs in his quota of 10 overs. Nishant Sindhu also shined with the ball taking a couple of scalps for 25 in six overs.
India will now meet England in the finals of the tournament, which will be played at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Saturday (February 05).

What an incredibly dominating performance by India U-19. Fourth consecutive final. Wow 🤩 And this time…unlike the last few editions, our team has no first-class cricket experience (due to Covid). Let’s get the 🏆 home 🥳🥳 #U19CWC #INDvAUS

This is a Yash Dhull and Shaik Rasheed appreciation post. A brilliant partnership which gave away their very mature understanding of the 50 over format. Come on colts #INDvAUS
