The first Test between India and Sri Lanka at PCA Stadium in Mohali is Virat Kohli‘s 100th match in the longest format. Fans were expecting Kohli to end his drought of a hundred when he stepped out to bat during India’s first innings. However, the former India skipper couldn’t even hit a half-century as he got out for 45 runs.

Notably, for more than two years, Kohli has not been able to score an international hundred. The last time when the Delhi-lad smashed a century was in the year 2019, when he hit 136 against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens.

As the wait for the Kohli’s hundred continued, a placard held by a fan at the PCA Stadium grabbed everyone’s attention. The fan carried a placard that stated that he would not marry until Kohli smashes his 71st international century.

Kohli has an incredible record across the formats. He has smashed 27 centuries in the red-ball format, while in the ODIs, Kohli has 43 hundreds to his name.

Ahead of the start of the match, Kohli was facilitated by head coach Rahul Dravid upon reaching the 100 Test matches milestone. Kohli had admitted that he was nervous before stepping out on the field to play his landmark match. Notably, he became the 12th Indian and 71st cricketer overall to achieve the accomplishment.

“Rahul (Dravid) bhai had asked me in the morning how are you feeling? I said to him, I am feeling like I am making my debut all over again. To be honest, I had butterflies in my stomach. It was a special moment, and I didn’t realise the magnitude of the occasion till the time things got closer to today and how the presentation ceremony happened. There were people in the stadium today as well; it was a moment which was very, very special. I did feel very nervous before walking out before,” Kohli had said in the virtual presser.
