In their first match of upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 30 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
During the mega auction, the Challengers spent INR 10.75 crore on Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga and roped in former South African captain Faf du Plessis for INR 7 crore. The Bangalore-based franchise further formed their core team by acquiring the services of Dinesh Karthik (INR 5.5 crore), Josh Hazlewood (INR 7.75 crore), Harshal Patel (INR 10.75 crore) and Shahbaz Ahmed (INR 2.4 crore).
Ahead of the two-day bidding event, RCB had retained Virat Kohli (INR 15 crore), Glenn Maxwell (INR 11 crore) and Mohammad Siraj (INR 7 crore). Du Plessis has been named as new captain of the side for the 2022 edition of the tournament
