Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) thrashed Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 15th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai on Thursday.

Chasing 150, Lucknow went off to a flyer with openers KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock taking the game away from the Capitals with an outstanding partnership. The duo ended up forming a dominant stand of 73 runs inside the first half before Kuldeep Yadav provided the first breakthrough by dismissing LSG captain Rahul (24).

Soon, LSG lost Evin Lewis as well, but De Kock stayed firm at his end alive and kept on scoring the runs. The explosive left-handed batter played a scintillating knock of 80 runs from 52 deliveries, including nine fours and two maximums, to get his side closer to the target. The contest went down to the wire, where eventually Lucknow won the match by six wickets.

Earlier, Prithvi Shaw starred with the bat to give DC a flying start. The right-handed batter smashed a quickfire 61 off just 34 deliveries, with the help of 11 boundaries, including a couple of sixes. However, after Prithvi’s dismissal, DC lost the plot and failed to carry the momentum.

Captain Rishabh Pant (39 not out) and Sarfaraz Khan (36 not out) chipped in with some valuable contributions to help DC reach 149/3 in 20 overs. For Lucknow, Ravi Bishnoi picked up a couple of wickets for 22 runs in his quota of 4 overs.
