In match 30 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were engaged in a last-over thriller at the Brabourne Stadium on Monday. In a high-scoring contest, the Royals ended up winning the game, courtesy of Yuzvendra Chahal‘s astonishing hat-trick, which inspired RR to record the triumph by seven runs.
KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer put up a brave fight for his franchise against the Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan to keep them in the hunt till the 17th over, where Chahal scripted history. Iyer became the first victim of Chahal’s brilliant hat-trick, and the Mumbaikar was clearly unhappy after he walked back to the dugout.
Iyer was spotted venting his frustration to the KKR head coach Brendon McCullum who was sitting in the dugout. He had his bat and helmet in his hands and seemed to be complaining to McCullum about some action on the field.

When it comes to the match, Jos Buttler‘s second century of the fifteenth season propelled RR to post 217/5 in 20 overs. Buttler smashed 103 off 61 balls, including nine fours and five sixes. In response, Aaron Finch (58) and captain Iyer (85) both played crucial knocks to keep KKR in the game until the Chahal’s special over when the leggie turned things around, driving the Royals to a memorable victory.
“I think from the start we got, we really were going well according to the run-rate. Finchy was good, but once he was out, we slowed down a bit. We lacked a bit over there, but it’s a part of the game. Unfortunately, we couldn’t click,” said Iyer after the match.
