After a poor start to the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have announced that Ravindra Jadeja has stepped down from captaincy and has decided to hand over the leadership role back to Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Dhoni had walked away from the job before IPL 2022 started but will take over from Jadeja as skipper for the rest of the season.

“Ravindra Jadeja has decided to relinquish captaincy to focus and concentrate more on his game and has requested MS Dhoni to lead CSK. MS Dhoni has accepted to lead CSK in the larger interest and to allow Jadeja to focus on his game,” CSK announced on Saturday.

CSK are currently placed at the ninth position in the points table with just two wins from 8 games. They will next play Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday evening.

Talking about Dhoni, in the 213 matches where he led the Super Kings – the team won 130, suffered losses in 81 and clinched a record six titles, spanning across two competitions – four at the IPL and two at the Champions League (CL) T20.
