Zimbabwe Cricket, on Friday, announced their men’s squad for the home T20I series against Afghanistan, starting June 11 at the Harare Sports Club. Zimbabwe and Afghanistan have recently met in the ODI series, where the visitors completely dominated and clean swept the hosts 3-0.
One of the biggest concerns for Zimbabwe was they failed to put up a substantial opening partnership in any of the three ODIs. Hence, the home team has called up young opening batter Tadiwanashe Marumani for the three-match T20I series. The 20-year-old last appeared for Zimbabwe in September 2021 in a T20I against Scotland.
Further, Takudzwanashe Kaitano and Tanaka Chivanga, who were a part of the ODI squad that recently faced Afghanistan, have not been retained for the shortest format. The selectors have also named Clive Madande, Blessing Muzarabani, Dion Myers and Ainsley Ndlovu in the outfit.
Notably, Muzarabani has made a comeback in the just-concluded T20Is against Afghanistan. Similarly, Madande is uncapped in international cricket and toured Nepal last month with the Zimbabwe A squad. At the same time, Ndlovu has played international cricket across the three formats but has not represented the national side since February 2020.
