To celebrate India’s 75th year of Independence, a special match between India Maharajas and World Giants of the Legends League Cricket (LLC) will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on September 16.
Former Indian captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly will lead the Indian Maharajas, while the World Giants will be captained by England’s 2019 World Cup-winning skipper, Eoin Morgan.
“This is a proud moment for us that we are celebrating the 75th year of our Independence. As a proud Indian, it gives me immense satisfaction to share that we have decided to dedicate this year league to the 75th year of Independence,” said former India head coach and commissioner of Legends League tournament, Ravi Shastri, on Friday.
The league, which commences on September 17, will witness overall 15 matches where four teams will compete against each other. The first season of the league, featuring three teams – India Maharajas, World Giants and Asia Lions, took place in Muscat in January this year.
