Team India and Pakistan once again met in an exciting contest at Sharjah Cricket Ground on Sunday, where the Men in Green registered a victory by five wickets.
Despite losing the last-over thriller, there were few positives for the Men in Blue, one of which was the resurgence of global superstar Virat Kohli. The former skipper notched up his second successive half-century of the Asia Cup 2022 in the epic clash against the arch-rivals.
While Kohli’s brilliant knock became the major talking point, his reaction to Deepak Hooda‘s shot also gathered maximum attention. Kohli was seen applauding a shot after Hooda produced a sublime uppercut during the Indian innings.
It all happened during the 18th over bowled by Pakistani pacer Mohammad Hasnain. He delivered a lethal bouncer, but Hooda played his trademark uppercut to collect a boundary. Seeing the sensational shot from Hooda, Kohli was seen tapping his bat in the applause of Hooda’s magnificent uppercut.

“It’s good learning for us. I thought it was a good score. Any pitch, any conditions, when you get 180, it’s a good score. We got to learn a lot today – what sort of mindset we need to have when defending a score like that. Like I said, you’ve got to give credit to Pakistan. They’ve played better than us. The form is brilliant (talking about Kohli). Needed someone to bat long when the others were getting out. He batted with that tempo as well. Virat getting that score was crucial from the team’s point of view,” said Indian skipper Rohit Sharma in the post-match presentation.
