India registered a comfortable win over Western Australia XI in their first T20 World Cup Warm-up game on Monday, October 10. India skipper Rohit Sharma failed to impress but inform Suryakumar Yadav smashed another half-century with the bat. However, former India captain Virat Kohli did not participate in the match at WACA, Perth.
After the practice game, veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was quizzed about Kohli’s non-selection in the playing XI.
Famous for his witty answers, Ashwin stumped the reporter with a cheeky response. Though he didn’t reveal why Kohli was not named in the playing XI, the senior bowler joked that he would love to step into coach Rahul Dravid’s shoes to answer such burning questions.
“I wish I could walk into Rahul Dravid’s shoes one day and answer that question, but as of now, your guess is as good as mine,” Ashwin quipped.
The Men in Blue have been training at the WACA for the past three days. The Indian side was not at its best with the bat, but they ensured to post a competitive total on the board in the warm-up clash. The visitors scored 158/6 in their stipulated 20 overs. In reply, Western Australia XI could only manage 145/8 in their 20 overs.
Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers for India with 3 wickets for 6 runs.
