England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), on Tuesday, announced that their men’s team will tour to Bangladesh next year for three ODIs and as many T20Is. The Three Lions will also play two warm-up games ahead of the ODIs.
The first two ODIs out of the six white-ball games are scheduled to be held on March 1 and 3 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Dhaka. The last match of the 50-overs leg will take place at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on March 6.
The subsequent three-match T20I series will be played on March 9, 12 and 14. The first match of the T20I leg will take place in Chattogram while Dhaka will host the next two games. This will be the first-ever T20I bilateral series between the two sides.
“It is exciting that the England Men’s white-ball squad will return to Bangladesh for the first time since 2016. The atmosphere generated in Dhaka and Chattogram for this eagerly-anticipated tour will be fantastic,” Clare Connor, ECB Interim Chief Executive Officer, said in his official statement.
“There is a great passion for cricket across Bangladesh, and we expect a tough challenge against a side who have an excellent record in home conditions.”
England recently toured Pakistan where they defeated the hosts by 4-3 in the ODI series and by 3-0 in the three WTC Tests. On the other hand, Bangladesh beat India by 2-1 in the three-match ODI rubber while lost the two-Test series 2-0.
