Australian opener David Warner has penned an emotional note for his wife Candice after the conclusion of the Boxing Day Test against South Africa, which was also his 100th match in the longest format.
Warner’s 100th appearance in the whites coincided with Australia’s dominating win over Proteas by an innings and 182 runs. The New South Wales cricketer was named Player of the Match for his sensational double hundred at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The knock came as a big relief for Warner as he was struggling to score runs in the past few innings.
The Australian star took to Instagram to appreciate his wife Candice’s efforts, stating she is the reason he is going stronger than ever. Warner said the past few weeks had been challenging, but his wife’s support helped him accomplish the hurdles.
“No words can describe my love for you!! Thank you so much for everything you do for the girls and me. You sacrifice so much for us, and I have never heard you complain about anything. You are the reason I’m still going stronger than ever. I can’t thank you enough for being by my side. These last few weeks have been a challenge, but you’ve kept us in a positive mind frame. The younger me would not have gotten through it. I love you with all my heart,” wrote Warner.
“My Dad could not come here, but this one is up there. Never doubted my abilities. It is all about coming out here, I have trained my backside off in the nets. Just needed to get out there and perform on the big stage,” Warner told broadcasters after the match.
