Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant was involved in a major accident while returning from Delhi to his hometown, Roorkee, in Uttarakhand. It is believed that Pant’s car collided with the divider and caught fire near the Delhi-Dehradun highway in the early hours on Friday, and Pant was subsequently taken to a local hospital before being shifted to a private multi-speciality hospital in New Delhi.
According to reports, Pant was alone in the car at the time of the accident and was taken out of the burning car by the local police. As a result of the collision, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter has a head, knee, and shin injuries.
Notably, Pant was not part of the India squads for the forthcoming T20I and ODI home series against Sri Lanka starting on January 3. He was due to join the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for strength and conditioning before the home Test series against Australia in February.
Pant most recently played a match-winning knock of 93 in the second Test against Bangladesh in Mirpur, which helped Team India win the contest as well as the two-match series.
