Team India and Sri Lanka will face each other in the three-match One-Day International (ODI) series starting Tuesday (January 10). Recently, both sides locked horns in the T20I leg which the hosts won by 2-1 following their dominating 91-run victory in the deciding third match.
Since India will be hosting the 50-over World Cup later this year, the ODIs against the Islanders have become extremely crucial. Even for the Lankans, the battle against the Men in Blue will come as a dress rehearsal for the global showpiece event.
India will be without their premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who already missed the preceding T20Is. The right-arm fast bowler was named to the ODI squad earlier this month, but a call has been made not to rush Bumrah into action so soon.
