The second Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023 between India and Australia is being played in Delhi and the hosts have bundled out the visitors for 263 in the first innings of the match.

The Aussie opener David Warner yet again had a forgetful outing with the bat and was dismissed for mere 15 runs by India’s star pacer Mohammed Shami. Before getting caught behind, Warner was hit by a nasty bouncer on his helmet from Mohammed Siraj. The left-handed batter at that time did not go through a concussion check and continued to bat. However, the 36-year-old missed the action later in the day and was off the field while India were batting.

Cricket Australia has now officially confirmed that Warner suffered a concussion after being hit on the head and will not be a part of the remaining match. Matt Renshaw was announced as the replacement for the Aussie opener.

“Warner will now follow the graduated return to sport protocols ahead of the third Test in Indore in line with Cricket Australia guidelines,” said Cricket Australia’s official statement.

Notably, Renshaw played the first Test in Nagpur but couldn’t impress with the bat and scored two runs in both innings combined, including a duck. He eventually was dropped from the playing eleven from the second encounter as the visitors faced a humiliating defeat by an innings and 132 runs in the series opener.

Talking about the match, Usman Khawaja top-scored for Australia in their first innings with 81 runs and was well supported by Peter Handscomb, who contributed 72 valuable runs to the team’s total. Meanwhile, India were disciplined with the ball and asked some tough questions to the visitors, with Shami scalping four wickets for the hosts.
