In a high-scoring encounter played at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Monday, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 12 runs. LSG won the toss and elected to bowl first in Match 6 of IPL 2023.

MS Dhoni’s CSK set a mammoth target of 217/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad top-scored for the hosts with a blistering knock of 57 runs off 31 deliveries, which included 3 fours and 4 sixes. Devon Conway also played a crucial knock of 47 runs off 29 balls. Mark Wood was the pick of the bowlers for LSG, taking 3 wickets for 49 runs in his 4 overs.

In response, the touring party started off strong with Kyle Mayers playing a brilliant knock of 53 runs off just 22 balls, including 8 fours and 2 sixes. However, the KL Rahul-led side lost wickets at regular intervals and were restricted to 205/7 in their allotted 20 overs, falling short of the target by 12 runs.

Moeen Ali was the standout bowler for CSK, taking 4 wickets for 26 runs in his quota of 4 overs. Tushar Deshpande also chipped in with 2 wickets for 45 runs in his 4 overs. In the end, CSK’s all-round performance proved too good for LSG as they secured a well-deserved victory in their homecoming game.
