Alzarri Joseph, the frontline pacer for the Gujarat Titans (GT), made a significant impact during the Tuesday night fixture against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Joseph performed excellently as he picked up two consecutive wickets in quick succession to make the Capitals run for their money. He got rid of captain David Warner and batter Rilee Rossouw with exceptional deliveries.
Warner, who was playing well after initial setbacks from Titans’ senior paceman Mohammed Shami, was caught out by Joseph’s remarkable delivery in the 9th over. Warner tried to cut the ball from off stump, but it was too close to his body, resulting in a thick under-edge that hit the stumps. The Australian star was dismissed for 37 runs from 32 balls, featuring seven boundaries.
Joseph then continued his impressive performance as on the very next delivery, the Caribbean pacer went for a short ball that caused surprised Rossouw as the batter fended off awkwardly, resulting in a pop-up off the bat shoulder towards the backward point.
The rest of the work was done by Rahul Tewatia, who dived forward to take an excellent catch. Joseph’s crucial wickets helped the Hardik Pandya-led Titans to restrict the opposition’s scoring rate.

The Capitals eventually posted 162/8 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to contributions from all-rounder Axar Patel and Sarfaraz Khan. While Axar finished with 22-ball 36 with the help of 2 fours and 3 sixes, Sarfaraz smashed 30 off 34, laced up with a couple of boundaries.
For the Titans, Joseph bagged two wickets for 29 in his quota of 4 overs. Similarly, Shami and Rashid Khan also returned with sizzling performances. Both Shami (3/41) and Rashid (3/31) bagged three wickets each in their respective 4-overs.
