In the 33rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced a massive defeat against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at their home ground at Eden Gardens on Sunday.

Put to bat first, the Super Kings put up a mammoth total of 235/4 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to a brilliant display of batting by their top order. Devon Conway and Ajinkya Rahane smashed half-centuries, with Rahane scoring the maximum 71 off just 29 deliveries, including 6 fours and 5 sixes. All-rounder Shivam Dube also chipped in with a quickfire 50 off 21 balls.

In response, the Knight Riders struggled to get going and lost wickets at regular intervals. Jason Roy played a blistering knock of 61 off 26 balls, and Rinku Singh also scored a quickfire half-century, but it was not enough as KKR fell short by 49 runs. Tushar Deshpande and Maheesh Theekshana were the pick of the CSK bowlers, taking two wickets each.
