After an exceptional performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) rising star Rinku Singh has earned his maiden India call-up for the upcoming Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. As the talented 25-year-old prepares to don the national colours, he revealed his cricketing idol in a recent interview, shedding light on the valuable support he has received throughout his career.
Rinku expressed his admiration for former Indian batter Suresh Raina, hailing him as his idol. The KKR star mentioned that he has always looked up to Raina and continues to maintain regular contact with the experienced cricketer. Raina, who is widely regarded as the ‘IPL King,’ has been providing invaluable guidance to Rinku, sharing his insights and helping him improve his game.
In addition to Raina, Rinku acknowledged the support he has received from former India spinner Harbhajan Singh. Grateful for their assistance, Rinku expressed his appreciation for both Raina and Harbhajan. He emphasized that their encouragement and praise motivate him to push himself further in his cricketing journey.
“Suresh Raina has been my idol. I am regularly in touch with him. He is the IPL King and he keeps sharing his inputs with me. He has helped me a lot in my career,” said Rinku while talking to RevSportz.
“Bhajju pa (Harbhajan Singh) has also helped me a lot in my career. I am grateful for their support and whenever such big players talk about you, it motivates you to push yourself more,” added Rinku.
The talented left-handed batter enjoyed a breakthrough season in the recently concluded IPL, amassing an impressive total of 474 runs for the two-time champions KKR. His outstanding performance caught the attention of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), leading to his inclusion in the second-string India squad for the Asian Games.
