The 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) continued to captivate fans and stakeholders alike, evoking a rollercoaster of emotions. One notable fan who has expressed his concern over the reactions depicted during the IPL is none other than the legendary actor Rajinikanth.
During the audio launch of his upcoming movie ‘Jailor,’Rajinikanth shared his thoughts on the IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and its co-owner, Kavya Maran, showcasing his evident empathy for her.
Rajinikanth keenly observed Kavya’s visible emotions while watching her team endure tough losses during IPL games. This unique perspective highlights the emotional rollercoaster that fans experience in IPL matches, adding a human touch to the game and reminding everyone of the passion and involvement of team owners in the cricketing spectacle.
Recently, Rajinikanth came up with a valuable advice for Kavya’s father, Kalanithi Maran, who owns the SRH franchise. He emphasized the importance of investing in better players to enhance the team’s performance. Such calls for reinforcing the squad are not uncommon in IPL circles, as a strong team composition often plays a crucial role in determining a team’s success on the field.
Rajinikanth expressed his concern, saying, “Kalanithi Maran should put good players in the Sunrisers Hyderabad team. I feel bad seeing Kavya like that on TV during the IPL.”
The 2023 IPL season proved to be challenging for the Sunrisers as they finished at the bottom of the points table, managing only four victories out of 14 matches, which was undoubtedly disappointing for the team and its fans. Even under the leadership of new captain Aiden Markram, SRH’s fortunes didn’t change. They struggled to put on a show despite having a mixture of both experienced players and young guns in their squad.
The SRH management made strategic investments during the IPL 2023 auction after saying good bye to Kane Williamson and many others. However, at the auction they built a lineup that garnered anticipation and branded the team as a potential dark horse for the title. But despite making astute decisions, the Sunrisers couldn’t translate their potential into on-field success.
